Southwest Financial Empowerment Scholarship

Apply for our $1,000 scholarship!

Each year, we award four $1,000 scholarships to deserving students in the area. Two will be awarded to recent high school graduates, and two will be reserved for current college students. The scholarship can be used for anything that supports your education—housing, books, tuition, etc.

To qualify, students must:

• Be a current SWLACU member in good standing.

• Be a current-year high school graduate of an accredited Louisiana high school and be ENROLLED as a full-time student to attend an accredited non-proprietary, Louisiana institution of higher education (university, college, or community college), OR...

• Be a CURRENT college student attending a Louisiana institution of higher education (university, college, or community college).

• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

• Submit an official high school transcript or current college transcript and two letters of recommendation from a community leader, educational professional, or Spiritual leader.

• Complete the scholarship application.

• Answer each of the following questions in essay format.

3. While in college, I plan to give back to my community by...

4. Upon completion of my college degree program, my goal is to...
