Who We Are
We Are Family
We make it personal here at Southwest Louisiana Credit Union.
Southwest Louisiana Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative institution, and we’re here to serve our members. Just by opening and maintaining a share savings account, you become a part-owner of the credit union. Credit unions are not-for-profit, allowing us to pass our savings on to you. This means your loan interest rates are lower, your earnings are higher and you’ll rarely see fees.
We’ve been helping our members achieve their goals for over 70 years because as a member, your financial success is our priority. When you talk with one of our certified financial counselors, you won’t be talking with another guy in a suit who’s only looking for big profits. You’ll be talking with someone in your credit union family who has been where you are and who can help you get on your feet.

Mission & Vision
Mission: Financial Empowerment for ALL
Vision: Eliminating poverty in Southwest Louisiana
We’re working toward our mission and vision by offering one-on-one financial counseling, engaging workshops and seminars, and CDFI programs and products. Our goal is to empower families with ways to save money while strengthening their family’s financial situation through positive credit growth.
Our History
Back in 1952, a few employees of PPG Industries with a common vision were tired of the bureaucracy of banks and founded Southwest Louisiana Credit Union (formerly PPG Employees Credit Union). Their vision was to charter a credit union that put the customer first and helped the everyday Joe meet their financial needs.
From that small office at the PPG Industries production facility to the credit union it is today, the cornerstone of our philosophy remains the same: people helping people.
Community Outreach
Here at Southwest Louisiana Credit Union, we understand that bad things happen to good people, and we believe in second chances. Our team is dedicated to giving everyone the opportunity to achieve their financial goals and become financially fit. To make this a reality, we partner with organizations that work every day to improve the financial health and well-being of our entire community. These partnerships help us reach more families in need of assistance while inspiring us to expand our goals for the community. We also volunteer and take part in community events that positively impact our area, and we help fund worthy causes that improve the quality of life of our members.
